In this workshop we will spend 3 hands-on days exploring bending techniques for use in studio furniture and sculpture. We will work with steam bending, laminating, kerf-bending and hot-pipe bending, and investigate a range of approaches to each technique. We will also make straps, jigs and formers for various approaches to bending and laminating, and discuss the construction of steam boxes and vacuum bags.
Ross has taught wood bending at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in the USA, to Indonesian Forest Product Researchers, to university design students, and to woodworkers from all around Australia.
