Handtools Fundamentals

  • Lomandra Place Studios Coolum Beach, QLD, 2573 (map)

If you only want to take one woodworking/furniture making class - this is the one for you. With the skills you will develop in this class, you can begin to make your own furniture with a minimal palette of hand tools, or you can use it as the fundamental basis to develop machine and higher level hand and design skills. This course, or an equivalent, is a prerequisite for our advanced woodworking courses.

Learning to work to a fine level with hand tools is fundamental to furniture making. In this fundamentals class you will learn how to use hand tools, how to sharpen and care for them, how to accurately mark and measure, and how to choose, make and tune-up hand tools. Along the way you will make a mountain of beautiful shavings, and create a small functional item.
