An introduction to machine tool woodworking, covering the safe and accurate use of basic static wood machinery.

Learn to use standard machine tools to safely create fine furniture.
We will prepare timber with the bandsaw, surface planer, thickness planer, and cut joinery with mortisers, routers, drill press, panel saw and spindle moulder.
You will practice techniques while we work through creating a studio stool with angled joinery.

Let Ross guide you through the process of designing and making a chair. Along the way we will investigate ergonomics, design, shaping and bending timber, joinery options, making jigs and fixtures and simple upholstery. Requires woodworking experience, we recommend having at least completed a hand tools fundamentals course, and an introductory wood machining course before undertaking a chair. Class size limited
